So. Halloween was interesting, to say the very least. At 2:59 AM, my wife delivered my fourth daughter, Rhianna Jade, in Lake Regional Hospital. She was in labor at the hospital from only 1:30, but had started having contractions at around 7:00 the prior evening. She labors so very fast... >.>

Anyhow! I have finished the eighth suit that I started work on, even though my seventh is not complete yet (more's the pity)...

I am considering doing something drastic though... I may fix the vest that I am working on (suit #7) to a point where I can sell it.... And use the money to finance the rings in stainless that I'd need to complete my most ambitious project. I'd not be able to afford all of them by selling it off, but, well, it'd help alot.

So! The vest I am working on is made with high tensile galvanised steel wire, with some copper trimming. The rings were made on a 5-16" rod, and hand cut and assembled. The vest itself weighs about 25 lbs. thus far, and I need to add a little bit to the bottom rim in order to even it up. At that point, it'll be a wee bit below the beltline, maybe 4 or 6 inches (I'll need to measure it). It has no sleeves, but flares over the shoulders a little. It does not open on the chest at all, but that can be changed upon request. A picture of the piece can be found here; [link]

Asking price is $275 plus shipping. There are very few places that you'd be able to find a better price than that for this grade of chainmaille. My work has been battle tested in groups like the SCA, and has proven itself to be of an excellent quality and durability. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a note, reply here, or, if you want, hit me up on MSN; brandoncornwell@live.com.

take it away in a…

in a stiff little box,
to that desolate place where all bad things go.
Things too tormenting,
to wounding to dwell.
a place I won't to visit,
a place called hell.

How many pounds of rings would you say it takes to make a mid-thigh shirt with sleeves to the elbow? I have always wanted to try this

For a hauberk my size, roughly 35 lbs of 14 g. 3/8 ID links. If you go with aluminum (ew...) 12 lbs will do it. In titanium, roughly 20lbs, maybe a touch more.
